Hello Friends!

Welcome to our blog!  Our blog came out of the crazy life experiences we have shared that started with our friendship in our East Texas High School.  In 2017 we got together for what we believed to be our "once in a lifetime" trip abroad together in Cuba.  At the time we wanted to research Cuban cuisine from a home cook perspective, getting a taste of what foods are considered comfort food.  We never could have imagined the things that we experienced on our trip.  We chronicled much of our trip on Facebook but there was so much more that never got on the Facebook pages.  

When our trip was over we began to talk about how much fun we had and discussed traveling again to continue our food exploration.   Mel had recently acquired a cookbook from her mother-in-law,   "The New Ford Treasury of FAVORITE RECIPES from Famous Restaurants", published in 1963.  This book included a travel guide to 820 restaurants on US highways.  It didn't take long for the idea to come alive and we started an adventure on US Highway 98 from Texas to Florida.  As they say, the rest is history.  

As a visitor here, you are part of our fantastic gastronomic journey.  We will continue to plan trips domestic and abroad seeking out restaurants and recipes.  We will continue using the Ford Treasury including a recently discovered 1950 edition.  As we travel we will attempt to prepare some of the included recipes from each state to make sure we get a taste of the foods each region made famous.  We intend to share the results.... good and bad.

2 Divas Dishing believe that food is not just something that fills your stomach but also something that nourishes your soul and builds relationships. That's why we put our heart and soul into every dish we experience, whether we are eating it or actually making it! 

We enjoyed every minute of our first Dishing trip using the Ford Treasury of Favorite Recipes.  We really didn't know what to expect or what we would find.  As intrepid travelers we were certainly not afraid to meander along the old US highway or to talk to locals about restaurants that are no longer there.  At the same time we were able to find some wonderful new(er) places that locals love.  The result has been the beginning of our best "Dishing".
